ALPACAS
|
Once again we will have our
alpacas and our miniature donkeys.
Some information
that you may not know about Alpacas is as follows.
-
Alpacas are
cousins to llamas and camels. They are native to Puru
and are used as pack animals.
-
They are
much smaller than either of their cousins. In fact, a
full grown alpaca is no more than 4 feet tall.
-
Alpacas only have one
set of teeth on the bottom jaw, so they can’t really
bite you. They are gentle and easy to care for. The only
negative is that they will sometimes spit at each other
and, if you are in the way, you might get wet.
-
The donkeys
are sweet, but they sometimes think fingers
are carrots, so please don't pet or feed them. They like
for
you to talk to them.

Our donkeys this year will be
Chocolate Chip, who has been here for the past two years,
and Chocolate Chip's son, Pancharelli. Pancharelli's mother,
Athenia is expecting another baby sometime in late November.
Two alpacas from last year will be here this holiday season:
Mojo and Billy. They will be joined by a newcomer named
Guinnis. If you are a returning guest, you might recognize
Chip, Mojo and Billy."
You may pet and feed the Alpacas as long as you feed
them alpaca food. We will have packets for you to
purchase for 25 cents.
If you are interested in purchasing an alpaca, we have
information about how you can do that.
Make sure before you leave What Fir" Tree Farm that you
at least say hello to Mojo, Billy, Guinnis, Chocolate Chip
and Pancharelli; and, if you have a camera that you get your
photo taken with them.
