EXCITING NEWS FROM WHAT FIR! TREE FARM!!!
NC Small Farmer of the Year, 2005

What Fir! Tree Farm won’t be opening this year in the usual way.
We will cut our Fraser Fir Christmas trees for you & transport them to Apple Hill Farm.
Visit with us at Apple Hill Farm & create a family experience you will always treasure.

Christmas was fantastic for us. We saw so many old friends and made lots of new friends. We all had fun playing the alpacas and donkeys, making wreaths, and sharing Christmas joy with everyone. Thanks to all of you who visited us, we sold many more trees and wreaths than any other year. Our challenge as growers is to maintain enough trees in the 5 foot to 12 foot range from year to year to be able to give each of you not only a #1 quality tree, but also the size you need for your home.

Now because we had such a good year in 2007, we don’t have enough trees the right size to insure that everyone who comes to see us will be able to find his or her ‘perfect’ Christmas tree. So we are experimenting with a new and exciting Agritourism venture. Instead of opening our farm this season - - - -

We will be partnering with Apple Hill Farm, between Boone and Banner Elk. (See Directions) Even though we won’t be in our usual location, we will still have our Wreath Shop (See Wreaths) with fresh-made plain & mixed wreaths from the tips of our trees, a bigger and better Christmas Shop (See Gifts) with complimentary refreshments, and Cut Fraser Fir Trees from our farm. An added feature is Guided Farm Tours. Everyone will have the opportunity, for a small fee, to meet and talk to about 50 animals, including grown-up alpacas and 4 new-born babies, lamas, horses, both miniature and full size donkeys, goats, and chickens. On the tour, the owner of this farm, Lee Rankin, tells funny stories about the animals.

DAYS OPEN IN 2008
November 22-23
November 28-30
December 5 - 7
December 13-14
Hours: 9:00am-5:00pm

Other exciting pluses are that this farm is on top of a mountain with spectacular long-range views, the Wreath Shop and Christmas Shop will be in the big timber framed horse barn, and the Fraser Fir trees will be in the riding ring. Apple Hill Farm is unique and beautiful, and we are happy we can share it with you. We know that choosing to visit with us here this year will be an adventure of a lifetime.

Also, as usual, we are promoting wreath fund raisers and for the first time – Christmas tree fund raisers. We have a field of trees that is inaccessible for Choose and Cut that we think will be perfect for tree fund raisers. If you are interested in more information, please contact us via our contact page.

Visit the Apple Hill Farm web site, www.applehillfarmnc.com, and see the gorgeous photos of the animals, get directions, get contact information, and learn more about our 2008 Agritourism event. You can also obtain information at our web site by clicking on our other pages. If you click on Frequently Asked Questions (See FAQ), for instance, you can find out about pre-tagging trees, our tree prices, Christmas lodging packages and other useful information.

We are quite excited for the opportunity to once again help bring Christmas cheer into your homes, to see old friends and make new friends.

Have a blessed holiday season and thank you for choosing What Fir! Tree Farm
and Apple Hill Farm this Christmas.
